Information evenings and recruitment days are a great way to find out more about adoption or fostering. You will learn more about the practicalities, and meet others involved in the process. Please see below for upcoming events...

Do you live in Berkshire, Oxfordshire or Buckinghamshire and want more info about adoption and fostering?

Parents and Children Together (PACT) run regular information evenings for people interested in adoption or fostering who live in Berkshire, Oxfordshire or Buckinghamshire. The next information event is on Tuesday 18 November at 7.30pm in either Oxford or Reading.

Adopters in Liverpool!

Liverpool City Council adoption service is holding an Adoption Information Event for prospective adopters on Thursday 20 November at 7pm. Are you looking for information about fostering in Newcastle?

Come along to Newcastle’s Christmas lights switch-on by the Monument from 4pm on Thursday 20 November.

Staff will be handing out fliers detailing the benefits of becoming a foster carer.

Are you approved to adopt and looking to be matched with a child or children?

The Adoption Register for England and Wales is organising two major exchange days: one in Leeds on Wednesday 26 November, and the other in London on Friday 28 November.

Local Authorities and the Adoption Register will be profiling children who are waiting for an adoptive family, and other agencies with an interest in supporting adopters will also be present.

If you are an approved adopter and would like to register an early interest in attending one of these events, please get in touch with Joanne Rhodes at the Adoption Register on 0870 750 2173 or via email. Attendance will be by appointment only.

Coventry: Could you adopt a child?

If you are thinking about adoption and live within an hour's drive of Coventry, come along to one of our information evenings. You will be able to speak to members of our recruitment team and hear from an experienced Coventry adopter. The next event will take place at a central Coventry location from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday 27 November.

Barnardo's New Families information meetings

Barnardo's are holding information meetings throughout 2008.
* Colchester evening event (Wednesday at 7pm): 3 December.
* Ipswich evening event (Monday at 7pm) at Novotel, Greyfriars Road: 8 December.

Camden open information evenings

If you are curious about becoming an adopter or foster carer and want to find out more, or are ready to take the next step, why not go along to one of the evenings organised by Camden?

Events will be held on the following Thursdays in late 2008 and 2009: 4 December, 5 February, 5 March, 2 April, 7 May, 4 June, 2 July all between 5.30pm and 7pm at Crowndale Centre, Camden Council, TDC Conference Room, 2nd Floor, 218 Eversholt Street, London NW1 1BD.

Ealing: 2008 information events

Ealing is looking for adopters and foster carers who are white UK, Polish, Irish, black African, black African-Caribbean, mixed ethnicity and Asian.

An evening information event will be held at 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Monday 1 December at Ealing Town Hall, New Broadway, London W5 2BY.

Impact Workshops! Monthly information evenings for foster carers in Bristol

Foster Care Associates are running monthly information evenings at their regional office, 13 Whiteladies Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 1PB, for people interested in becoming a foster carer. The next event will take place at 6.30pm on 11 December. This is an opportunity to have an informal chat with experienced foster carers and members of the Social Work team. Information evenings for foster carers in Harrow

Harrow Council are running information evenings for prospective foster carers every last Thursday of the month between 7pm and 9pm at the Civic Centre in Harrow. To find out more, contact the Family Placement service on 020 8728 8871, or via email. You can also visit the Harrow Council website.

Interested in fostering in Scotland?

Barnardo's run information sessions on the last Thursday of every month, between 2pm and 4pm for people interested in finding out more about what's involved in fostering. These are held at 6 Torpichen Street, Edinburgh EH3 8JQ.

Are you thinking of fostering?

For an informal chat about fostering, come along to the offices of Keys Fostering Services at 3B Dalton Court, Blackburn Interchange, Blackburn, Lancashire BB3 0DG, on any Friday afternoon.

Do you live in the Tameside area and have the skills to foster?

The Tameside Fostering Unit is looking to recruit foster carers with high levels of commitment, time and a good understanding of children’s needs.

They currently need placements for children aged 0 - 17 years of age from a diverse range of backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures and religions. They are particularly looking for black and mixed heritage foster carers. Some of their children have complex needs due to their early life experiences.

You will receive a high level of training and support from the Fostering Team, and be financially rewarded. Fostering can be a challenging yet rewarding experience. Can you meet the challenge?
